Kicking off the series of activities is the paragliding program “Flying Over the Water Season” 2026, taking place from April 29 to May 5 in Lim Thai Village, Tu Le Commune, Lao Cai Province. This is considered the highlight of this year’s tourism season, especially appealing to travelers who enjoy exploration and thrilling experiences. From an altitude of several hundred meters, the terraced rice fields during the water season appear like giant “mirrors of the sky,” shimmering and flowing gracefully through the mountains. The early summer sunlight reflecting on the water creates a landscape that is both majestic and poetic.
Beyond watching professional pilots perform, visitors can also experience paragliding themselves—floating in the air while taking in the breathtaking beauty of the Northwest from above. At the same time, the journey in Tu Le opens up a rich cultural space, with activities such as checking in at terraced rice fields, exploring the daily life of Thai and H’Mong communities, enjoying local specialties, and immersing in the vibrant atmosphere of highland festivals. The opening ceremony is expected to be held on the morning of April 30 at Ruby Ecotourism Site (Yen Binh commune), featuring impressive jet ski performances that set an energetic atmosphere from the very beginning.
Another highlight is the expanded traditional basket boat racing competition, bringing together multiple teams and delivering exciting performances across the vast lake. Beyond sports, an exhibition space featuring OCOP products and local specialties will take place from April 29 to May 3, helping promote regional products, connect markets, and attract investment. Notably, tours exploring attractions around the lake—such as visits to Thac Ba Hydropower Plant, Thuy Tien Cave, Thac Ba Temple, as well as craft villages and community-based tourism experiences—will run throughout the holiday season and continue into 2026. These journeys offer diverse experiences, combining nature, culture, and local life.
