The Sapa Paragliding take-off is at Hang Da village in Hau Thao commune, at about 1,500 m and about 6 km from Sun Plaza. From the grass you look across Muong Hoa Valley to the Hoang Lien Son range, and there is somewhere to sit and watch if you are not flying.
What's here
- The "Take off zone" counter: a yellow kiosk where the car drops you, for check-in, weight, insurance details and payment
- The "Eat, Sleep, Fly, Repeat" waiting area: a roofed shelter hung with red flags, with long wooden tables, right behind the grass
- The "Du luon Sapa 1500m" marker: a triangular sign at the edge of the launch, where nearly every group takes a photo

A flight from start to finish
- Check-in: go to the yellow counter, give your weight and insurance details, and pay by cash or card. No booking yet? Scan the QR code on the counter
- Waiting your turn: sit in the shelter, have a drink (included), leave your bag and meet your pilot
- Harness and briefing: the pilot fits your harness and helmet and checks every buckle by hand, then takes a few minutes to explain how to run, when to sit back, where to put your hands and how to lift your legs forward for landing
- The run: a few steps on the pilot's call; keep running until your feet leave the ground, then sit
- 8–15 minutes in the air: Muong Hoa stream and the terraces fit in a single view, and on a clear day Fansipan stands to the west. A GoPro films the whole flight
- Landing at Lao Chai: legs forward, a few steps with the momentum; you get your GoPro files and certificate, and a car is waiting to take you back
Getting there
The site is along Violet Road and then Muong Hoa Road, past Moana Sapa and Ban Mong, about 6 km from Sun Plaza. It is a mountain road but not a long one; when the town centre is jammed, the team switches to motorbike pick-up to keep your slot.
- Packages with transfer: pick-up at your hotel or Sun Plaza; a solo guest rides pillion with a staff member, two or more go by private car, never mixed with other groups. Be ready 15–30 minutes before pick-up
- On your own (Basic package): the team sends the pin for the take-off and directions; motorbike or taxi both work

For companions, and photos to take
- Watch the launches: non-flyers sit in the waiting area right behind the grass with a clear view of each wing leaving the hill
- Group photo at the 1500m marker: take it before harnessing up, with the valley and the Hoang Lien Son range behind
Best time to go
The valley changes colour by season: flooded terraces in May–June, green rice in July–August, golden rice in September. October to December is sunny, dry and clear, the most reliable flying. December to March is cloud-hunting season: more rescheduling, but on the right day you fly above a sea of cloud.
Early mornings often bring fog over the launch, usually lifting between 9 and 11 as the sun warms up. Pilots only take off when they can see the Lao Chai landing, so the wait is sometimes longer than planned.

Price and what is included
- Basic 2,090,000 VND: 8–15 minute flight, GoPro, insurance, drinks at the site, certificate
- Standard 2,190,000 VND: adds hotel pick-up and drop-off
- Premium 2,990,000 VND: adds drone footage and a 360 camera
- No deposit; pay at the flying site. If the weather rules out flying you reschedule or cancel at no charge
- From 3 years old; under-18s need a parent or guardian present. Maximum weight 110 kg; tell the team in advance if over 95 kg
What to bring and keep in mind
- Trainers or shoes with grip; no flip-flops or heels.
- A light jacket: at 1,500 m the wind is a few degrees colder than in town. Long, close-fitting trousers rather than a skirt.
- Empty your pockets and tie back long hair; leave big bags at the hotel, and the team will hold small items at the site.
- Not advised if you are pregnant, have a heart condition or uncontrolled blood pressure, or have had recent surgery.
Combine in a day
On the way up you pass Moana Sapa, an easy photo stop on the way back. After landing at Lao Chai you are standing at the start of the walk to Ta Van, about 2 km along the stream. Because the whole outing takes about 90 minutes, a morning flight still leaves time for Fansipan or Cat Cat village in the afternoon.

Quick questions
How far is the take-off from Sapa town?
About 6 km from Sun Plaza along Muong Hoa Road. With a transfer package the car collects you at your hotel; the whole outing takes about 90 minutes hotel to hotel.
Can non-flyers come up and watch?
Yes. The covered waiting area is right behind the grass, so family and friends can sit there, watch the launches and take photos.
What if it is foggy when I arrive?
You wait in the shelter until the pilot can see the landing field. If flying is not possible that day, you reschedule or cancel at no charge.
